Thank you for the welcome LouLou

Hi Optimistic I was given the leaflet about Harmony & was considering it but wondered how much. It's a lot of money but as you say in the grand scheme of everything paid for ivf.... Did they test only for Downs?

I think Harmony tests for loads. I'm surprised the NHS won't scan you again next week.

I think before paying £400 it's worth asking if it would change anything? I've already told the midwife even if they find soft markers for any conditions I'm not willing to have an amnio. The risk is too high to risk my bean and what will be will be. I wouldn't have a termination regardless so what's the point is my thinking but then again my sister had one so she could be prepared if there was a problem. I think it's a really personal decision but £400 seems a lot to me if you have decided it wouldn't make a difference :)

I have been really ill all morning :( trying to get through choir rehearsals is impossible! Baby pushing up, diaphragm pushing down + the constipation -> not well at all whoops!

Very much want my scan tomorrow out of the way so I will feel much 'safer'. Only 22 hours to go! How's everyone else?

I'm not well either jo, my sickness seems to have gone to another level now when i was starting to get to grips with it. Like you say makes you feel so down and we should be so greatfull but when your ill your ill. Im struggling finding anything at all that i can eat and drink and i'm 14 weeks in 2 days i thaught it was supposed to be getting better now and i just sit and cry over how crap i feel! I dont like the thaught of taking tablets but actually considering a sickness pill even tho iv been adamant i wouldnt take anything i just dont know what to do with myself anymore! Glad i'm not working but worried when i do go back im still going to be so sick.

I thought mine was clearing up and I suppose it has overall felt less in the last week but right now with the room spinning I'm not so sure...

Scan went great (after they found me a slot having managed to delete my appointment from the system?!) and bean is totally great :)

Started officially telling people now and looking into antenatal exercise classes which is crazy as I think I actually believe it!

How's everyone else? There's a few of us over the 12 week line now?

Fab news Jo!
I'm 10 weeks but feel awful. I feel sick constantly and am sick at least 5/6 times a day and have diarrhoea. I can't stomach any meals so am existing on crisps, crackers and rich tea biscuits and I bring them up. My mouth is really dry and watery and smells make my sickness worse. Sorry for mega moan but is this normal? I feel a hyperchonrociac but I feel awful. If anyone has any advice I'd appreciate it xxx

LauraLou certainly sounds like my 'normal' experience - I only managed to start eating 'proper' food and move on from crackers and plain toast last Sunday; I'm still throwing up but nothing like I was which was similar to you - 5/6 times a day and waking up at night. Keep going it will get easier. I'm hoping it'll stop almost completely in a couple of weeks!!! I think unless you can't keep water down you're fine but try and drink a couple of litres a day (I failed miserably) and if you are feeling dehydrated (check your wee as well sorry TMI) then go to the dr ASAP as it's hydration that's important at the moment. Try and find a time you can take your pregnancy vitamin/folic acid that is less likely to cause you to throw it up too as the folic acid is important xxx

Thanks Jo. I feel bad being so miserable after wanting this for so so long. I can't believe how totally drained and rubbish I feel, got a pounding headache today too. Don't think I've ever felt so rubbish! Can I ask jo, did you take time off work? It's the Easter holidays for me but I couldn't make it in to work like this. When did yours start to ease? 12 weeks? Yes I did - last term I had a total of 4 weeks off plus the odd day. My head was very understanding and told me just to go off for the last week of term completely so I've had a month Easter holidays...definitely feel like I need another month though...it's impossible to teach throwing up and feeling dizzy. I also had 3 weeks off during the IVF - officially due to stress. You have to put yourself and bump first at the moment so if you need time either ask for it or see your GP.

Thank you, I also had 3 weeks off due to stress during ivf and it's stopped me from taking any more time off - but unless I feel dramatically better then I cant go back after Easter feeling like this! but at least ive got another week of holidays left before i need to decide. All I can do at the moment is stay in bed, I feel to drained to even get dressed! I'll be ( hopefully) 12 weeks after Easter, hope I'll be over the worst then. How do you feel now? x

I still feel shattered - been away on a friendly music course this week and I could barely get through it; missed a lot of the activities and the concerts were very very hard. I am worried about going back - if I don't start feeling better soon I'm going to struggle and I know management aren't going to take well to me struggling again... worst case I'll hold out until the exam classes have left and then take time off if needed. My biggest problem is the mess I left last term has meant my to-do list this term is astronomical. I'm going to have to make a big list the day I go back and be ruthless about what is essential, what I can delegate and what can be ignored. Baby has to take priority now!

I'v been off work 3 months now. You have rights being pregnant and like you said baby needs to come first. Its also not a normal pregnancy even tho they say it is it has been forced and i'm still in alot of pain from egg collection. One ovary is still swollen the other has gone down. Has eveyone been watching one born every minute?

No... I haven't been able to watch any programmes about babies for ages... and I'm still not confident enough in this pregnancy to dare... which is stupid at 13 weeks I know!!! But I still can't quite believe there's a baby in there. Apart from still throwing up I have no sign of it... I'm such a worrier!

I'm loving One Born Evety Minute, I cry every time the babies are born. It's terrifying to think we will have to go through that, but I'm picking up tips along the way!

Hi Optimistic, thanks for the suggestion of harmony. I've never heard of it before. The hospital didn't offer it or the midwife they just said I had to go for a blood test at 15 weeks which is booked for this Tuesday. I've probably left it too late now but neither mind. I'm not sure I could ever do anything about the risk of a downs baby anyway as it's taken so much to get this far.

Sorry to hear you're struggling with the symptoms still Jo, Nicola and Laura jo.

Glad to hear your scan went well Jo. It's the best feeling ever telling everyone and finally believing it's happening isn't it?

I haven't watched one born every minute either. I get too emotional watching it and too scared thinking that far ahead in case it all goes wrong before I get that far.

I'm 15 weeks tomorrow and can happily say time isn't dragging anymore. I'm proper showing now in fact I look more like 20 weeks! Lol. I've booked a private gender scan for two weeks time so excited for that. Just hope baby is still doing ok in there.

How is everyone else doing/feeling today? X

Hi all
Hope everyone is starting to feel better now that your all heading past 12weeks and beyond

I'm currently 17 weeks tomorrow and have the smallest bump ever. My sister said it looks like I've just eaten too many burgers haha
Next scan booked for 10th May and me and DH have decided to find out the sex but keep it a secret from family and friends.

I've had an awful Easter break, caught a bug from my nephew causing me to be sick and diarrhoa, (sorry TMI) for 3 days. Wasn't able to keep any fluids down but luckily I wasn't hospitalised.

So happy your scan went well Jo. When's you next one booked for?

I've not heard of the harmony test since reading the posts. Loulou do let us know how it goes if you can have the tests.

Xx

Hi Ladies

Not logged in for a while so thought I'd catch up on you all.
Anyone suffering with hip problems especially on a nighttime, I'm in agony every night. Still not sleeping too great What with that and my constant toilet runs through the night although they are getting better. All worth it though.

How's you Bobby? Glad your sickness has subsided. And congratulations on you having a baby girl. We're not finding out, gonna wait.

Hi mitchip

I am really good- no sickness still really bad. The tablets do help and have got some energy back thank god.

I am 20 weeks now. I CANNOT believe it- where has the time gone?

I am not suffering from hip pain, however feeling really sore and tight where my lower abdominal muscles are stretching. Keep trying to massage and do gentle stretches.

How's things with you? Your so patient and it will be 100x more exciting that you have decided to wait to find out what sex it is eeeeek!

Hi Ladies,
I'm not having hip issues either, but like Bobby I do have lower abdomen cramp/pain again I think it is the stretching, especially as I have some scar tissue there. But I have started with the really bad tiredness again, but my friend who is a midwife tells me that will be because baby is having a growing spree and doubling in size at the moment. I am 17 weeks now.
We weren't going to find the sex out but our baby has a complication with some organs growing outside of the baby in the cord and so as soon as baby is born it'll be taken straight to ICU and need surgery, so this has changed our opinion. As baby needs to be wrapped in a surgical cling film to keep the outside organs safe I won't get a chance to hold baby and depending on how things go might not see him/her, so in light of this I decided I would like to know. But we are going to ask the hospital to put the sex pin a sealed envelope and then have a gender reveal party with our families instead of a head wetting as baby and I could be in hospital for a month or two after birth. All quite traumatic as you can imagine, we have had a lot to get our heads around!
Take care ladies and keep posting your progress :)

Oh Bobby,

I'm sorry I thought your sickness had got better. I have been really lucky with that a d not had any at all, just my hips and I get headache a lot but apart from that I'm doing really well. Everyone that asks can't believe that I'm waiting lol but I'm old school I suppose and will look forward to the surprise at the birth. My daughter is going to be there in the delivery room With my husband because she has been through this journey over the last 10 years with the ectopic pregnancies so she is really looking forward to being part of it. Yes like you time is moving on quite fast now,
I'm 20 weeks on Friday and they have said that I will be given a date before I am 40 weeks due to my age and also my previous complications etc. So rather than the 3rd of November which was my IVF date it will be anything from the 21st of October which to be honest I'm quoted glad about because they say the last few weeks really drag so I'm cool with that.

Deborella, wow what a thing to get your head around. I can fully understand why you have changed your mind to find out the sex. We went to a family member gender reveal party last week and it was really lovely I had tears as it was quite emotional. When did you find this out was it at your 12 week scan? I have a lot of repect for our doctors and especially paediatrics and there special care units. I've just read about a baby that was born at only 22 weeks weighing 1lb4oz with his skin so thin they could see his organs through it, his servival rate was near enough zero but he has come through it all and is now ready to go home. My cousin had a baby born only weighing about 2lb+ and after weeks n weeks in hospital he came home a healthy baby boy and is now a big strapping young man. Keep positive I'm sure they will know exactly what he or she will need when he/she is born and you have to put your trust in them.

Take care, I will keep checking on here for everyone's progress.

Hi everyone, sorry to have been absent for so long - been trying to catch up on everything in life that fell apart during IVF/first trimester morning sickness!

Deborella that must be incredibly scary but I'm really glad the hospital have a plan in place to keep your little one safe.

I'm nearly 24 weeks now, can't believe how time has flown. Still get the occasional throwing up episode but that's about it - sore hip yesterday but it seems to have passed! Just bought a large family car and starting to plan the nursery - still can't really believe it's real but I can feel baby wriggling around so it's definitely happening!

Hope everyone is doing well xx
